Our Story: Why We Started NaraMora

The NaraMora story began with a simple seed of an idea: to transform our small backyard into a living space that truly nurtures. A place for fresh food, for peaceful moments, and for gathering with the people we love.

We live in Jepara, the heart of Indonesia’s woodworking craft, where a backyard can be the true soul of the home. Our yard isn’t huge—about 12 by 8 meters—but it’s more than enough space to dream with.

This project is named after our daughter, Nara. It’s a constant reminder to build a life with intention, rooted in family. We are not master craftsmen or professional gardeners—we are a family on a journey to create a home that’s a little more alive.

The Vision: A Backyard That Feeds Life

Our vision for this space has always been to create an integrated ecosystem where every element has a purpose.

  • The Gardens & Ponds: We designed raised beds for fresh vegetables and herbs, working in harmony with two water systems: a productive aquaponics pond for raising fish and a tranquil Koi pond that serves as the centerpiece for family leisure.
  • The Kitchen & Dining Area: The heart of our backyard is the outdoor kitchen, centered around a smoker and grill. Inspired by our culture of gathering, we built a simple wooden deck and dining set with our own hands, creating the perfect space for sharing stories and meals.

More Than a Project

This blueprint is about more than just vegetables and fish. It’s our family’s way of slowing down in a world that moves too fast.

It’s about creating a space where we can connect, where our kids can learn to care for something living, and where every project tells a story. It’s not about having the biggest or best, but about making the most of what we have.

This is the heart of NaraMora. It’s about the soil under your nails, the smell of wood smoke in the air, the ripple of koi in the pond, and the laughter of family. It’s about creating a home that’s alive, not just with plants, but with memories.

That’s why we started this. And that’s why we share it with you.
